Overnight Amtrak

Suzanne and I took and overnight train to Omaha from Denver last night. Apparently everyone was surprised when the train arrived and left Denver on time! We ate dinner with a couple who said once (during the Democratic National Convention) the train left 6 hours late... We slept in a roomette which was essentially two facing chairs that folded down into a single bed and had a bunk type bed above it.

Overall it was pretty good. I didn't sleep as well as I'd hoped, forcing me to sleep again once we arrived at 5:30am, but it was very nice to not have to worry about driving and staying awake or liquids and airport screeners. I'm not sure those benefits are worth the price, which ends up being a bit more than a flight, but such is the situation.

I'm officially a blogger

Yep, here I go. Spewing my thoughts out "there" allowing anyone to read. The purpose of this blog is to allow people to keep up with us on our South America trip. Hopefully people will enjoy our blogs and keep up.
